OUR EQUIPMENT
v Holter (an ambulatory electrocardiography device) is a portable device for continuously monitoring various electrical activity of the cardiovascular system for at least 24 hours (often for two weeks at a time) the Holter monitor records electrical signals from the heart via a series of electrodes attached to the chest.
v Spirometer an instrument for measuring air inhaled into and exhaled out of the lungs; it provides a simple way of determining most of the lung volumes and capacities that are measured in pulmonary function tests.
v Stress Test – is a test used to measure the heart’s ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment.
v The cardiac stress test is done with heart stimulation, either by exercise on a treadmill with the patient connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG).
v The level of mechanical stress is progressively increased by adjusting the difficulty (steepness of the slope) and speed. The test administrator or attending physician examines the symptoms and blood pressure response.
v 2D Echo – is a test in which ultrasound is used to picture out the heart. It is capable of displaying a cross sectional “slice” of the beating heart, including the chambers, valves and the major blood vessels that exit from the left and right part of the heart.
v “Doppler” is a special part of the ultrasound exam that assesses blood flow (direction and velocity). Doppler exam shows the flow of blood as it makes its way through and out of the heart. One would hear “swishing” or “whooshing” sounds during this part of the procedure.
v Electroencephalography, or EEG – is a key tool in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy and other seizure disorders. It is also used to assist in the diagnosis of brain damage and disease (e.g., stroke, tumors, encephalitis), mental retardation, sleep disorders, degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, and certain mental disorders (e.g., alcoholism, schizophrenia, autism).
v CT Scan – computed tomography (x-ray CT) is a technology that uses computer-processed x-rays to produce tomographic images (virtual ‘slices’) of specific areas of the scanned object, allowing the user to see what is inside it without cutting it open
v Digital Mammogram – is a screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women. During a mammogram, breasts are compressed between two firm surfaces to spread out the breast tissue. Then an X-ray captures black-and-white images of your breasts that are displayed on a computer screen and examined by a doctor who looks for signs of cancer.
v YAG Laser – is used to reduce glare and improves vision. It lets light pass through cloudy regions of the lens capsule that may develop after cataract surgery. It’s a safe way to treat Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Diseases.
