Community Organizers

Job Description

The Community Organizers shall be responsible for the field implementation, including ensuring social preparation and other project activities are carried out in a timely and effective manner. S/he is expected to work closely with Protection, Psychosocial Support, and Livelihood Officers—as well as government counterparts and other stakeholders—in the implementation of project components. S/he employs participatory processes with envisaged project beneficiaries to assess needs, carry out response and recovery efforts, and contribute to local capacity strengthening in their respective areas in close coordination and collaboration with all key stakeholders. Contribute to the formulation/revisions of the project policies through proactive reporting of actual experiences and difficulties on the ground.

Qualification:

At least a bachelor’s degree and preferably a masters in Social Work, Community Development, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field. Ideally licensed in the respective field. Minimum three (3) years of experience in community organizing/development including, preferably, work with diverse groups of people in areas devastated by armed-conflict and/or disaster. Strong analytical and relationship building skills. Very good verbal and written proficiency in English is required, ideally complement with fluency in Maranao, Maguindanaon, Visayan, and/or Cebuano dialects. Knowledgeable about Mindanao, the conflict-affected areas, and the socio/political dynamics. Proactive and rigorous approach to problem solving and professional responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team. Proficient with personal computers and appropriate software.
